​​​The Energy Efficiency Bill was voted in the National Assembly in March 2010.
Sections 1 to 18 of the Act were proclaimed on November 18, 2011 while Sections 19 to 23 were proclaimed on January 01, 2013.

Amendments have been made to the Act through the Economic and Financial Measures (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2013.
